Hace unos días leí en Area 303 que Ubuntu Linux pasó el WGA .
El WGA (Windows Genuine Advantage) es un programa Active X que verifica la legalidad de un Windows, conocido normalmente por Validación o Activación de Windows.
Este vídeo fue reportado en los foros oficiales de Ubuntu donde el autor, mig5, explica cómo validar Ubuntu. Y en el tema puedes comprobar que algunos lo han conseguido aunque otros están aún intentándolo.

I just did this for a laugh and didn’t expect it to work. I went to microsoft.com using IE4Linux (http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page) and tried to download Windows Defender, on Xubuntu. Of course, I was asked to do the Genuine Advantage test. I used the alternate authentication method (although IE4Linux does support ActiveX, which is used in the normal authentication method, if lower security settings are used), downloaded and then ran the genuine advantage application (which took quite a while to start). It gave me a code that I pasted into the authentication box, and to my surprise it verified me and forwarded me to the download page. This just goes to show how rubbish they’re validation software is. I thought it was funny though, so I’ve uploaded a recording of it to rapid share, which you can get here: http://rapidshare.com/files/37580147/recording.ogg

Hice ésto de broma y no esperé que funcionara. Fui a microsoft.com usando IE4Linux (http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/page/Main_Page) e intenté descargar Windows Defender, en Xubuntu. Por supuesto me preguntaronpara hacer el test Genuine Advantage. Usé el método de autentificación alternativo (IE4Linux no tiene soporte Active X), descargué y entonces ejecuté el programa Genuine Advantage (el cual tardó bastante en iniciarse). Me dió un código que pegué en el recuadro de autentificación y para mi sorpresa me lo verificó y me remitió a la página de descargas. Ésto demuestra que el software de validación es un desperdicio.
